When I first met Claude Berda, in October 2015, one of the reasons we moved so rapidly with the business group was our shared vision of the business opportunities the Portuguese market offered at the time and the short, medium and long-term strategy to be pursued. Vanguard's market positioning also united us and guided our actions from the outset. A few examples are the company's ethical stance and social responsibility, not forgetting the adoption of art as a differentiating factor that inspired our motto, "Inspired by art, designed for living".
This long after the handshake that sealed this partnership, it's gratifying to see that not only do these ideas still hold true, they now take on different forms every day.
The recent handover to the new owners of our largest completed project, the Infinity building, is proof of this. It fills us with great pride to see such a successful endeavour at every level, with Lisbon boasting a new architectural landmark.
Created for the building's magnificent lobby by Joana Vasconcelos, one of Portugal's most prominent artists, the "Infinity Landscape" artwork is the unequivocal embodiment of our motto and reiterates our commitment to having art at the centre of what we do.
