LOVE - Marrakech Opened My Eyes to Color
Yves Saint Laurent

Vanguard Properties, publisher of Portico magazine, is the main sponsor of the exhibition “LOVE - Marrakech Opened My Eyes to Color - Yves Saint Laurent”, which can be seen in Évora between 5th June and 31st October. An initiative of the Duques de Cadaval Palace, in partnership with the Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent Foundation (Paris), as well as the Jardin Majorelle Foundation and Yves Saint Laurent Museum (Marrakech), the exhibition is marked by the colour and creativity of one of France’s most renowned fashion designers and his passion for the Moroccan city, which was both home and a major source of inspiration.

The first section in on show in the beautiful 16th-century São João Evangelista church, which hosts 14 Saint Laurent creations from the museums in Marrakech and Paris that bear his name.

The second section is dedicated to contemporary Moroccan art, which boasts the same creative pulse and chromatic variety that influenced Yves Saint Laurent so much. Curated by Mouna Mekouar, the event includes a varied group of Moroccan artists from different generations, such as Latifa Echakhch, Mohamed Melehi, Hicham Berrada and Meriem Bennani. The works are on display in nine rooms of the recently restored palace, where visitors can see a fine selection of sculptural dresses by Noureddine Amir, the first Moroccan designer to be invited by the Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion to present a collection in Paris (2018).

Alongside the exhibition, there will be various cultural initiatives, including a programme of concerts highlighting the best of Morocco music.
